HELP NEEDED. Conversion Word Problem

A ladder leans up against shaped cylinder that is half with oil. The barrel stands next to a building that is 500 feet high... A metal ball is dropped from the top of the building into the oil, falling at a speed of 145 f/s. When it hits the oil the ball slows to a speed of 1.303 knots. If the ladder is 90 inches long and its edge rests against the top of the barrel, and the bottom ofthe ladder stands 4.5 feet from the bottom of the barrel, how long in days will it take the ball to reach the bottom of the barrel?

4.5 feet is (12*4.5) 54 inches.

The Ladder is 54 inches from the barrel, and 90 inches long. Meaning the barrel is (Pythagorean Theorem - sqrt(8100-2916) ) ... 72 inches tall.

The formula for distance simply being put as vt + (1/2)at^2 = d, and the distance here being (72/12) 6 ft. Gravity being 32.2 ft/s^2. 1.303 knots being 2.2 ft/s.

16.1t^2+2.2t-6=0
