3t + 2b = 5
2 kids, five wheels, by inspection alone you can see there is one bike and one trike.
b) they belonged to 3 children and I counted 8 wheels altogether?
3t + 2b = 8
By inspection, this is 2 trikes and one bike: 6 + 2 = 8, for three kids.
c) they belonged to 4 children and I counted 10 wheels altogether?
3t + 2b = 10
3 x 2 = 6; 2 x 2 = 4; 6 + 4 = 10
4 kids with 2 trikes and 2 bikes.
d) they belonged to 9 children and I counted 25 wheels altogether?
I bet you can do this one by yourself.
