And y = the number of downloads of the high-quality version

 

Write an equation for the total size downloaded for the two versions in which is:

 

2.4x + 4.1y = 4116

 

Since the high quality version was downloaded 3 times the standard version, then y = 3x.

 

Just substitute y = 3x into the original equation in which is:

 

2.4x + 4.1(3x) = 2.4x + 12.3x = 14.7x = 4116

 

Divide both sides of the equation by 14.7 to solve for x.
