Stan and Harry leave the same place at the same time and travel in opposite directions. After 2 hours they are 236 miles apart. Stan's speed is 8 mph faster than Harry's. Find their speeds.

Harry's speed = x mph

 

Stan's speed =  (x+8).  mph

 

2x+2(x+8)=236

 

4x+16=236

 

4x= 220

 

x =55 mph

Harry's speed= 55 mph

Stan's speed= 63 mph
