Nick,
The easiest way to do this multiplication of mixed numbers (with whole numbers and fractional parts) is to convert everything to fractions, multiply the numerators, multiply the denominators, and reduce the resulting fraction.
-9 3/7 * 3 8/9
= (-66/7)(35/9)
= ( - 2310/63) then divide by 21 which goes into both top & bottom
= (-110/3) = -36 2/3
Or if your problem was really just fractions already:
(-93/7)(38/9) = -3534/63 = - 56 4/63
