Math word problem

Question

An executive in an engineering firm earns a monthly salary plus a Christmas bonus of 8000. If she earns a total of 104,500 per year, what is her monthly salary? 

Answer 1

Let x = her monthly salary

12x + 8000 = 104,500

        - 8000 =   -8000

             12x =  96,500

              12          12

                 x = $8041.67/month

 

I am definitely in the wrong profession. :)
