Xavier and Yogi want to ride their bikes to a game together. On the day of the game, Xavier ditched Yogi and left at 6:00 am. Yogi left at 9:00 am heading in the same direction at 25 miles per hour. Xavier is going 15 miles per hour. Set up the system of equations used to solve this problem. What time did Yogi catch up to Xavier (assuming there is enough time to catch up)?

15*(t+3) = 25t

 

15t + 45 = 25t

 

45 = 10t

 

t = 4.5

 

4.5 x 25 = 112.5

7.5 x 15 = 112.5

 

They meet at 1:30 pm
