Let x = daughter's age seven years ago

 

Then 11x = father's age seven years ago

 

x + 7 = daughter's age now

 

11x + 7 = father's age now

 

So, 11x + 7 = 4(x + 7)

 

      11x + 7 = 4x + 28

 

             7x = 21    x = 3

 

Father's age now = 11x + 7 = 40
