the number of free throws he made was 127 more than 3 times the number of three point field goals he made.

a = 3c + 127

b = a - 46

 

Let's rearrange the 1st equation.

 

3c = 2593 - a - 2b

 

And the 2nd.

 

3c = a - 127

 

Since 3c equals two things, they equal each other.

 

2593 - a - 2b = a - 127

-2b = 2a - 2720

b = -a + 1360

 

a - 46 = -a + 1360

2a = 1406

a = 703

 

b = 703 - 46

b = 657

 

703 = 3c + 127
