cost of renting 1 chair = x

cost of renting 1  tables = y

 

6x+2y = 30 ---------- eq 1

 

3x+5y =48 -----------eq 2

 

solve these 2 equation simultaneously

 

30x +10y = 150 ---------multiplying eq 1 with 5

6x +10y =  96---------multiplying eq 2 with 2

 

subtracting these equations

24x = 54

 x= 2.25

substituting x=2.25 in equation 1

6(2.25)+2y=30

13.5 +2y =30

2y =  16.5

y = 8.25

 

cost of renting 1 chair = x =$2.25
cost of renting 1 tables = y =$8.25
