A gallon of paint covers a surface area of 400 square feet. How many gallons of paint will be needed to put one coat on one side of a fence that is 7 feet high and 300 feet long?

So how many square feet is the fence?

300 x 7 = 2100 square feet

 

A gallon of paint covers 400 sq ft so:

 

2100/400 = 5.25

 

It will take 5 1/4 gallons of paint
