If it's 3/4 full, then it's 1/4 empty. So it would take 1/4 of 14.5 gallons to fill it.

14.5 = 14 1/2 = ((14*2)+1)/2 = 29/2

29/2 * 1/4 = (29*1)/(2*4) = 29/8 = 3 5/8
