Tonys pizza is a popular pizza place in town. Tony sold 35 more pizzas on Friday than on Sunday. He sold 65 more pizzas on Saturday that Sunday. If Tony sold 310 pizzas over the 3 days, how many pizzas did he sell on each of the days?

Let F = Friday, Sa = Saturday and S = Sunday.

 

Eq 1) Tony sold 35 more pizzas on Friday than on Sunday............ F = 35 + S

 

Eq 2) He sold 65 more pizzas on Saturday that Sunday............. Sa = 65 + S

 

Eq 3) Tony sold 310 pizzas over the 3 days.................. F + Sa + S = 310

 

Substitute Eq 1) and Eq 2) into Eq 3), you get

 

(35 + S) + (65 + S) + S = 310

 

100 + 3S = 310

 

3S = 310 - 100

 

3S = 210

 

S = 210 / 3 = 70

 

 

Eq 1) F = 35 + S = 35 + 70 = 105

 

Eq 2) Sa = 65 + S = 65 + 70 = 135

 

 

Friday = 105 pizzas

Saturday = 135 pizzas

Sunday = 70 pizzas

 

To confirm, F + Sa + S = 310

 

105 + 135 + 70 = 310!
