If p = 0.8L,
and p is in dollars, then
the cost of the rope is $ .80/meter ( or 80 cents per meter).
Since the price is 0.8 times L (p=0.8L), the price of rope that is L meters long would just be 0.8L. Essentially this means that it costs $0.80 per meter.
