What is the total charge of the atom?

Atoms have the same number of protons and neutrons, but when an atom gains electrons it becomes an anion. A nitrogen anion has 7 protons ans 10 electrons. Each proton has a charge of +1 and each electron has a charge of -1. What is the total charge of the atom?
