You're body can eliminate .02% alcohol per hour. That is roughly one beer, one shot or one glass of wine. So if you've had 5 drinks in 1 hour, that;s a .10% blood alcohol level. It would then take you 3 hours to process .06% to get down to your .04% levl. If you had 10 drinks over 4 hours, 10 drinks would be .20% but 4 hours means you processed .08% leaving you with .12% to process. you would then have to wait 4 hours (4*.02 = .08%, subtracted from .12%) to leave you with a .04% blood alcohol level.
This is all assuming that you don't have some condition that makes you metabolize alcohol faster or slower.
