The dosage of an orally administered drug is usually less than an iv administration. The onset of action is usually quicker by iv than oral. And the effect on the infection is the same by either route of administration. If by effect on the body you refer to side effects, the side effects would generally, but not always,
be greater after oral administration. However this is not a generalization.
