Okay, the garden has an area of 30 x 20 = 600 sq.ft.
With the walkway, it has an area of:
(30 + 4) x (20 + 4) = 34 x 24 = 816 sq ft. (because the walkway adds two feet on each side of the garden)
Now, to get the area of the walkway, simply subtract the area of the garden from the area with the walkway included.
816 - 600 = 216 sq. ft.
