Question

Two crews working toward each other are 13.75miles apart. One crew paves 1.3 lies of highway per day the other paces 1.2. How long will it take them to meet?

Answer 1

Let x = number of days it takes 

 

Then, 1.3x + 1.2x = 13.75

 

                    2.5x = 13.75

 

                        x = 5.5 days
