Good afternoon, Lena. Let's see what we can do.
If we add 1/3 + 1, we get 4/3, right? So, we end up with 8^(4/3). What does this mean?
Remember that the square root of, say, 4 can be written as 4^(1/2). What a fraction as an exponent means is that we take the denominator's root of 4 and then raise it to the power of the numerator.
In other words, if we take the square root of 4, we get 2. If we raise 2 to the first power ,2^1, we get 2.
Let's say it was 4^(3/2). We'd take the square root of 4 and get 2, then raise it to the power of 3 ,2^3, and get 8. Does this make sense? Can you solve your problem from here?
