a gasoline tank is 40% full.the gasoline boy has loaded 21.6 liters to fill it.how many liters of gasoline can the tank hold when full?

please answer my question?

I believe since the tank is already 40% full, the 21.6 liters fills 60% of the tank. I would go with 36 as the answer.

x = the amount the tank will hold when full
 
if it's 40% full, it's 60% empty
 
.60x = 21.6
 
x = 36
 
the tank will hold 36 liters
 
this problem is tricky because you have to realize the 21.6 liters corresponds to 60% of the tank
