How do I change this expression to become a negative answer without changing or moving and numbers or operation symbols?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your numbers right, but here's what I think.

 

(2+1/2)*(1 and 3/4 - 3). I haven't changed or moved anything. I just added parenthesis.

(2+1/2)*(1 3/4-3)

(2 1/2)*(-1 1/4)

(5/2)*(-5/4)=(-25/8)=-3 1/8

you add parentheses to change the order of operations
