To convert grams to moles and vice-versa, you need the molar mass of that substance. Water (H2O) has a molar mass of 18 g /mol.
4.842 g H2O x (1 mol H2O / 18 g H2O) = 0.2690 mol H2O**
**4.842 has 4 significant figures, therefore moles of H2O must also be reported to 4 sig figs.
