if eighteen people want to share right candy bars, how much will they each get

This is a simple long division problems.

 

If you do long division, 18 / 8 = 2 remainder 2. 

 

Therefore each gets 2 candy bars, and there are 2 left over.

 

 

If you don't want to take the remainder route, you would be left with 2 2/8.  Meaning each person gets 1 and 1/4 candy bars.

 

(This would be easier if I could type long division...)
