Is memantine hydrochloride which is used to treat alzhiemer is hydrophobic or hydrophillic substance?

Memantine hydrochloride is hydrophilic.  The free base (memantine) would be hydrophobic, but protonating the nitrogen and making the hydrochloride salt converts the molecule to a water soluble, hydrophilic molecule.
