Good morning Faraz,
the person has enough money to buy 10 plates of rice
let's make up a number for the amount of money the person has
let's say he has $150
Any number you choose would work . I just chose one that keeps us from working with decimals or fractions
If he can buy 10 plates of rice for $150, then the cost of one plate is
150 ÷ 10 = 15 One plate of rice costs $15
Also, if he can buy 15 plates of noodles, then the cost of one plate is
150 ÷ 15 = 10 One plate of noodles costs $10
So if he's going to buy equal amounts of rice and noodles, what would that amount be?
let X = the number of each he can buy
multiply the cost of each plate times X and set the sum equal to $150
$10X + $15X =$150
25X = 150
X =6 He can buy 6 plates of each
