The standard form of a quadratic equation is:

 

y = ax² + bx + c

 

where a, b, and c are constant values called coefficients.  In your equation, a = 5,   b = -1, and c = 1.  If a > 0, then the parabola opens upward.  If a < 0, then it opens downward.
