Coffee counter charges $9.00 per pound for kenyan french roast coffee and $13.00 per pound for sumatran coffee. How much of each should be used to make a 26 piund blend that sells for $11.00 per pound?

Answer 1

x = pounds of french roast

26 -x = pounds of sumatran

 

9x + 13(26 - x) = 11(26)

9x + 338 - 13x = 286

-4x = -52

x = 13 (french roast)

 

26 -x = 13 (sumatran)
