there will be no h.a 

and for the v.a we factor and we get

x=1 and x =-1

As degree of numerator > degree of denominator    no horizontal asymptote

 

to find the vertical  asymptote  set denominator  equal to 0

 

x^2-1 = 0

(x+1)(x-1) =0

x=1 and x=-1

 

so vertical asymptote is at x =1 and x=-1
