I assume you want to solve for θ.

 

secθ = 3cosθ

 

Recall that

 

secθ = 1/cosθ

 

Then

 

1/cosθ = 3cosθ ⇒

 

cos²θ = 1/3

 

cosθ = ±√(1/3) = ± (√3)/3

 

There are 2 solutions:

 

θ = cos^-1[(√3)/3]

θ = π - cos^-1[(√3)/3]
