calculate the energy required to heat 832.0 g of silver from -2.8 C to 4.3 C.  Assume the specific heat capacity of silver under these conditions is 0.235 J*g^-1 * K^-1

Q = mcΔT

 

Note: A change in °C is the same as a change in K.

 

ΔT = [4.3 - (-2.8)]°C = 7.1°C

ΔT = 7.1 K

 

Q = mcΔT = (832.0 g) [0.235 J/(gK)] (7.1 K) = ? J

 

Just plug in the numbers, and you do not even need to convert units.
