Find the perimeter of parallelogram abcd if cd = 5+5y,bc=4,ab=3y+11.

In a parallelogram, bc = ad and ab = cd

 

bc = ad

4 = ad

So we have two of the sides, bc = 4 and ad = 4

 

ab = cd

3y+11 = 5 + 5y

6 = 2y

3 = y

So ab = cd = 3y+11 = 3(3) + 11 = 20

So the other two sides are ab = 20 and cd = 20

 

Perimeter = ab + bc + cd + ad = ____?
