The roots of a quadratic equation x^2+px+q=0 are 3 and -2.

The quadratic equation is (x-3)(x+2) i.e. x² - x -6 i.e. p = -1 and q = -6

 

Just as an additional note; in a polynomial equation of degree n (i.e. 2 in this case), the coefficient of the term in n-1 (1 in this case) is the sum of the roots with the sign changed and the constant term is the product of the roots * (-1)ⁿ.
