Solves first equation for x. You have:
x = 2y-16
Substitutes that into first equation:
3(2y - 16) + 4y = 22
6y - 48 + 4y = 22
10y - 48 = 22
10y = 70
y = 7
x = 2y-16 = 2(7)-16 = 14-16 = -2
CHECK:
1st equation: 3(-2) + 4(7) = -6 + 28 = 22
2nd equation: -2 - 2(7) = -2 - 14 = -16
(-2. 7)
