David-
Do you understand why it is easier to ride a bike down a hill than up a hill? It's because gravity is pulling you down, so it pulls you down when you go that way, and pushes you down when you want to go up. Wind can act the same way. It is pushing in one direction. If you go with the wind, in the direction the wind is pushing, it pushes you the way you are going, and makes it easier to ride a bike and even to walk. If you are going against the wind, the wind is pushing you back so it is harder to ride against the wind than with the wind.
Does that make sense?
