Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
distance = speed times time, d=rt, 1615 = (r+w)(3.5)
1615=(r-w)(4)
(r-w)4 = (r+w)(3.5)
plane speed minus wind speed times 4 = plane speed plus wind speed times 3.5
444-w)(4) = (444+w)(3.5
1776-4w = 1554 +3.5w
1776-1554 = 7.5 w
222 =7.5w
w = 222/7,5 = 29 1/3 mph for the wind speed
check the answer
1776-4(29 1/3) = a little more than 1776-120 = 1656, rounding 29 1/3 up to 30
1554+3.5(29 1/3) = a little less than 1554-105= 1659
there's an error in the problem where it says total distance one way was 1615 miles, that's inconsistent with the rest of the given information
