Let y = the cost of a pizza

3x + 2y = 45    Multiply the first equation by -3 and the second equation by 2. Then add them together.

5x + 3y = 71

-9x - 6y = -135

10x + 6y = 142

x = $7

3(7) + 2y = 45

21 + 2y = 45

2y = 24

y = $12
