If it is a right triangle, you should be able to square its sides, add them together and get the same answer when the third side is squared. short side2 + short side 2= longest side 2
Here is one of my examples: A triangle has the following side lengths of 3 in, 4 in, and 5 in. Is it a right triangle?
32+42=52 3*3 + 4*4= 5*5 9+ 16=25 25=25, so right triangle
2nd example: A triangle has the following side lengths of 5 in , 12 in, and 14 in. Is it a right triangle?
52 + 122= 14 2 25 + 144=196 169≠196 so this this triangle is not right.
