If a pound of beef cost $11.99 per pound but I only buy 2.5 pounds,how much did it cost?

I'm not sure if you wanted 2.5 pounds or 2.5 ounces.

 

Let's do both.

 

2.5 pounds of beef at $11.99 per pound--2.5 * 11.99 = $29.98

 

2.5 ounces of beef at $11.99 per pound--

 

There are 16 ounces in a pound, so, that would 11.99 / 16 = .75 per ounce

Then 2.5 ounces would be .75 * 2.5 = 1.88

 

That would be $1.88 for 2.5 ounces.
