Algrebra Question! Please help fast!!

Question

Jack is 4 times as old as Lacy. 8 years from now the sum of their ages will be 66.  How old are they now?

Let x be Jack 's age and y Lacy's age. Then

x=4y

(x+8)+(y+8)=66

4y+y+16=66

5y=66-16

5y=50

y=10 (Lacy's age)

x=4y=40 (Jack's age)

 

8y=50
