Algrebra Question! Please help fast!!

Question

Cody is twice as old as Evan and nine years ago the sum of their age was 6.  Find the age of each boy now

C=2E

C-9 + E-9 = 6

2E +E = 18+6= 24

3E = 24

Evan= 24/3 = 8 years old now

Cody = 2x8 = 16 years old now

9 years ago they were -1 and 7, which sum to 6

Must be a typo in the problem somewhere. While the answer is mathematically correct, -1 is an odd age to be.
