A broken scale reads 11 inches. Brody uses the broken scale to measure the length of a rope. He finds the length of the rope is 599 times the length of the broken scale. What is the actual length of the rope?

In terms of his broken scale of 11 inches length, Brody measures the length of the rope as 11 (599) = 6589 inches.  Since a foot has 12 inches, 6589 inches = 549 feet and 1 inch.  Done.
