1)   A + 10 = 2*(B + 10)            where A = Amy's age today     B = Bob's age today

2)   A  - 5  = 3*(B - 5)

 

1) A = 2*B +10

2) A = 3*B - 10

 

Setting equations 1) and 2) equal to each other and solve for B:

 

3*B - 10 = 2*B +10

B = 20 yrs old today

A = 2*B + 10 = 2*20 +10  = 50 yrs old today
