Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the length of the hypotenuse of the right triangle formed by:
(0,0) to (-15,0)
(-15,0) to (-15,36)
c2 = a2 + b2
c2 = (-15)2 + (36)2
c2 = 1521
c = 39
Note: There are well-known "Pythagorean Triples" that are integers. They, or multiples of them, are used very often in books or homework. For example, (3,4,5). The sides (15, 36, 39) are a multiple of (5,12,13), Learn these to check your work or to save a lot of time on tests.
