Let y = the number of small binders

x + y = 80        x = 80 - y

8.49x + 5.99y = 544.20          Multiply both sides of this equation by 100.

849x + 599y = 54420

849(80 - y) + 599y = 54420

67920 - 849y + 599y = 54420

-250y = -13500

y = 54 small binders

x = 80 - 54

x = 26 large binders
