Mrs. Rock ice cream party is today for her 25 students and herself. Each person gets a 2-scoop cone. They can choose from vanilla chocolate, strawberry, or rocky road ice cream. Remember, a person can have 2 scoops of The same kind of ice cream, and a chocolate scoop on top of a vanilla scoop is the same as a vanilla scoop on top of a chocolate. How many different 2-scoop cones can be made. Solve

First, let's see how many possibilities there are for two scoops, different flavors.   That's 4C2 = 6 possibilities.  We use Combinations because order is not important.

 

To this, we add four possible "both scoops are the same" choices.
