     Let's start  with what they have given us:  Let s= speed of squirrel,        d=speed of dog= 150%(s)=[1.5 x 12],

The speed of a dog is 150% the speed of a squirrel.  The speed of a cheetah is 310% the speed of the dog.

 

**Before you multiply change all the percents into decimals.   You are told that a squirrel runs 12 mi/1 hour, so substitute  s=12 into the set up above and multiply.

Note:  150%= 150/100 =1.5                   and       310%=  310/100= 3.1     I will let you finish your problem.

Squirrel's speed is 12%. 150% of 12 gives the speed of dog. 100% of 12 is 12 and 50% of 12 is 6. So 150% of 12 is 12+6=18. The speed of a dog is 18mph. 

Now we have to find 310% of 18:

18 -->100%

x --> 310%

x=(18*310)/100=55.8 mph
