When Fritz drives to work his trip takes 48 minutes, but when he takes the train it takes 40 minutes. Find the distance Fritz travels to work if the train travels an average of 6 miles per hour faster than his driving. Assume that the train travels the same distance as the car.

d = r(0.8)       48 minutes = 0.4 hour

d = (r + 6)(2/3)

 

0.8r = (2/3)(r + 6)
