To find the percentage of something in a mixture, take the mass of that something and divide by the total mass of the mixture (or solution as in this problem) then multiply the answer by 100.
mass of salt = 10g
mass of salt and water solution = 10g + 90g = 100g
percentage of salt in solution = 10g/100g x 100 = 0.1 x 100 = 10%
