Chris has saved twic the number of quarters that Nora saved plus 6.The number of quarters chris saved is also five times the  difference of the number of quarters and 3 that nora has saved.solve an equation to find the number of quarters they have each saved

2x + 6 = 5(X-3)

 

2x + 6 = 5x - 15

 

0 = 5x - 15 - 2x - 6

 

0 = 3x - 21

 

21= 3x

 

x = 7

 

Nora has 7 coins.

Chris has 2(7) + 6 = 14 + 6 = 20 OR

     5(7-3) = 5 * 4 = 20

 

Nora has 7, Chris has 20
